Our CCP-Approved Energy Policy

John Hinderaker:

With respect to our strategic position vis-a-vis Russia, our current energy policies are literally insane. But they might be even worse with regard to China. China is a far more serious economic competitor than Russia. Russia is pretty much a basket case apart from its oil and gas exports. But if the U.S. actually does try to transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar, it will effectively give the Chinese Communist Party control over our economy.

Side Chosen

Allahpundit:

“When I’m in the U.S., I’m American, but when I’m in China, I’m Chinese,” Gu likes to say. Patriotism doesn’t work that way, especially not with a country that within the past three years alone has unleashed a global plague, crushed democracy in Hong Kong, threatened war with Taiwan, and operated a system of concentration camps for religious minorities. Gu may be young (she’s 18) but she’s plenty old enough to have formed a moral judgment about how China does business. By choosing to compete for them anyway she’s become a willing propagandist for an evil regime, a living, breathing billboard that the CCP has done nothing so terrible that a daughter of the United States shouldn’t proudly ally herself with them.

She should never be forgiven.

Perhaps Stanford will rescind their offer of admission and Gu can attend one of China's many fine universities.  Just kidding.  Gu only betrayed her country.  It's not like she posted something rude on Twitter.

Behavioral Disparity Detectors

John Hinderaker:

Contemplate that idea for a moment! Everyone has to go through the metal detector, not just members of one race, so how can it represent racial inequity? The only possible answer is that “students of color” are presumed to be most likely to bring guns to school. That assumption could be true, but what sort of lunacy is required to infer that barriers to bringing guns to school, like metal detectors, must therefore be removed? This carries “disparate impact” to a literally insane level.
