Western Values
The message? America will not ally with countries hostile to the freedom of Americans, and will not have special relationships with Western countries if they are hostile to Western values. For decades, we have defended Europe because it shared our values; in the future, our relationship with Europe will be determined by whether Europe continues to do so.
Speaking of Supremely Stupid...
In fact, Justice Jackson even concedes that the government might be likely to win on the merits, but still objects to the stay. Why? Because Jackson and Sotomayor don't like the policy outcomes -- not because they would violate statutes, laws, or the Constitution, but simply because they prefer different outcomes. That might make a good argument in a legislature, but not in a judicial review. The Supreme Court has no legitimate role in imposing policy preferences outside of ensuring that the laws are enforced properly.
As for "precipitously upending the lives and livelihoods of nearly half a million noncitizens," one has to wonder how Jackson and Sotomayor define temporary. Joe Biden may have wanted to use it as a conduit to permanent residency in the US, but that isn't what Temporary Protected Status means or intends. It is meant to temporarily shelter people from acute circumstances of war and natural disaster, not permanent relocation. Many of these migrants have been here for years already, all the while under a status that has been both legal and temporary. These migrants have had months to prepare for an end to this status -- certainly the six months since the election, or four months since the inauguration. How much time do they need to prepare? Four years?
Supremely Stupid
So when he begins his speech from the throne with an acknowledgment that his ancestors stole the land, one has to wonder what moral standing he or other Canadians have to complain that somebody else wants to return the favor. Unless he is proposing returning Canada to the indigenous tribes who occupied the territory prior to the French and Canadians stealing it, he should at least understand the right of conquest.
Ask the Irish and Welsh about that. I'm pretty sure that the Malvinas came into British hands by means other than invitation, and that they wouldn't remain in British hands as the Falkland Islands without Ronald Reagan giving Queen Elizabeth II's government a hand.
Land acknowledgments are supremely stupid for anybody to do. King Charles isn't suggesting that Canada be returned to the tribes; nor, for that matter, that the descendants of William the Conqueror and his followers should leave England and return all that stolen land and power to the original inhabitants, whoever they are. The Romanized Britons? Perhaps the Celts? Maybe, instead of the Church of England, the Druids should be installed in Canterbury.
Prosecute All the Savages
Enough is enough. It is long past time to remove the impunity and start holding terrorists and their enablers accountable for their actions. Hopefully, Pam Bondi won't limit her investigation to the "lone wolf" model and take a very hard look at RICO prosecutions for the groups in which Rodriguez operated. (Fani Willis would approve, no doubt!) The same model should be applied to the academic institutions that reward campus terrorism; cutting off the finances hasn't taught these schools much, it seems. The Department of Justice should take a closer look at the Columbia library assault in particular to see whether federal prosecutions are warranted under civil-rights law, since Alvin Bragg is only interested in prosecuting NDA payments to porn stars.
It's time to put an end to the intifada era in the US. In fact, it's past time to do so, as the bodies of two young people attest. Their assassinations are a disgrace to those Americans who allowed the intifada globalization to fester and metastasize in the places where Americans seek education.
Multiculturalism
Presumably what is going on here is that law enforcement is terrified of the UK’s Muslim minority, and thinks it is easier to suppress opposition to the Muslims than to try to get Muslims to act in manner consistent with British traditions. This has given rise to Britain’s notoriously two-tier system of criminal justice, under the leadership of “Two-Tier Keir” Starmer. One privileged system of justice for violently threatening Muslims, another disfavored tier for Britons who don’t like being bullied.
Spoiler Alert: They Can't Be Overcome
Call it “net zero,” “Green New Deal,” or whatever your favorite term may be, it’s all just a big experiment to see if the laws of physics and economics can be overcome by sheer messianic zeal.
An American Coup
We don’t need @jaketapper or anyone else to tell us Biden has been increasingly senile since the 2020 election. We need them to tell us who was actually running the federal government from 2020-2024 and how they did it. You’re not coming clean until you come clean about that.

Real Refugees
Good point! There have been refugees for thousands of years, and legitimate refugees generally consist of family units. When there is a column of people crossing your border, and they are overwhelmingly young men, you are seeing invaders, not refugees.
The J6 Precedent
What should be done with those who try to obstruct federal officials in the conduct of their duties? The treatment of January 6 protesters gives us a clear precedent. Following that example, the insurrectionists of Newark and Worcester (who, unlike the January 6 protesters, are public officials and representatives of one of our major parties) should be held in solitary confinement for a year, and then ridiculously overcharged.
No one is above the law.
Europe's Suicide
With the election of Donald Trump, I think the U.S. has turned back from the brink of “green” destruction in the nick of time. If Europe continues to de-industrialize in service of environmental folly, it can only be regarded as deliberately suicidal.
The War for the West
Such change is the whole point of multiculturalism. If immigrants were expected to assimilate fully into the receiving culture, they would lose their value. They are supposed to bring lasting difference to Western nations and to shake the majority culture out of its traditions and identity, replacing the latter with desperately needed diversity (Germany’s much-touted Vielfalt).
The elite establishment never claims that the non-West needs comparably transformative diversity. No one argues that Sub-Saharan Africa or the Muslim Middle East should import millions of Danes and Irish to counter racial, ethnic, and religious homogeneity. Only the West engineers its own demographic replacement out of a belief in its own illegitimacy.

Well There Are None, So...
Moriarty says that she is trying to reduce racial disparities in criminal justice outcomes. My colleague at American Experiment, David Zimmer, has done rigorous analysis of official Minnesota crime statistics and found that such disparities do not, in fact, exist.
Rule of Law: Illegal Immigration Edition
They knew damned well at the time that Abrego Garcia was involved in trafficking the people in the car. That, however, would have been under federal law, and presumably not Tennessee law, so the officers had to defer to either the FBI or ICE. And under Joe Biden, neither the FBI nor the ICE were interested in enforcing human-trafficking laws, and neither were the Democrats who now want to make Abrego Garcia a TDS poster child and claim he was nothing more than a dad "living quietly" in Maryland.
Rule of Law: Progressive Edition
These same people applauded the greatest violation of the rule of law in American history, when Joe Biden welcomed 10 million illegal immigrants across the Southern border, and they are doing everything possible to frustrate President Trump’s efforts to restore the rule of immigration law. Nor did they express any concern about the rule of law when Democrats brought the most ridiculous prosecutions imaginable against Donald Trump, in an effort to imprison him and prevent him from running for president in 2024.
No, It Isn't
"Diversity is our strength" has always been a stupid assertion. It is a slogan, a bumper sticker, and as sincerely meant by its proponents as the "COEXIST" bumper sticker slapped on the car of a pro-Hamas protester.
Generally, when you encounter somebody who uses that phrase like a weapon to push back on your values or a defense of Western culture, what lies beneath the banal phrase is a much darker idea: submit, or else.
