Party of Illegals
Perhaps Denver can heat a few homes with Parady's strawmen this winter. There is a vast difference between strapping a GPS locator onto "every Denverite," or even on every car in Denver, and reading the license plates already assigned to these vehicles. The readers work when cars get driven on public streets, and the plates do exactly what they are intended to do by the state of Colorado. The police use that data to find cars already 'of interest' to investigators, whether that be stolen vehicles, vehicles involved in hit-and-runs, and so on. The readers identify those vehicles so that police can find them quickly and further their investigations into crimes.
And that was just fine with Denver's city council until January of this year ... because now that includes investigating people who enter the country illegally and commit crimes here. Time to throw the victims of other crimes under the bus.
Leftist Tools
Yesterday, Justice Kagan voted the exact opposite of what she intelligently said in 2022. She voted to allow unelected district court judges, as long as they are Democrats, to overturn policies that have been voted on by the American people, without even hearing from the Republican side. No doubt her vote would have gone the other way, if we had a Democratic president and Republican-appointed district court judges were trying to impose conservative policies by fiat.
There is no way Kagan’s flip-flop can rationally be explained. When the chips were down, Kagan abandoned her principles, and voted with her party. We have seen this over and over: Republican justices can be “mavericks,” can “grow in office,” and their votes are often in doubt. This is never the case on the Democrat side.
When the word goes out from their party, Democrat-appointed justices fall into line. Every single time. This is why, when a controversial case is pending in the Supreme Court, speculation focuses on how the Republican-appointed justices will vote. Everyone knows how the Democrats will vote—with their party.
Arrest the Employers
I empathize with that man in the roofer business who worked hard to follow the law and to provide good jobs for American citizens and with the workers he had to lay off. And why shouldn't that landscaper who lost his whole crew be prosecuted? He should be.
Colloidal Silver Candace
Candace Owens used to be a thing. She is smart, gorgeous, an outspoken conservative, and bat excrement crazy.Candace is big mad that the Israeli and American strikes on Iran's nuclear weapons program have made it less likely that she'll be able to watch a nuclear attack on Tel Aviv.
She has always been out there, of course, but more as a provocateur than a nutcase. Her outspoken advocacy and willingness to take on the race-baiters raised her profile so much that she landed a spot at the prestigious Daily Wire--a position she forfeited when she became an outspoken conspiracy theorist on the issue of Israel.
She claimed that her ouster was driven by her opposition to US support for Israel's war in Gaza, but things are more complicated than that. Matt Walsh is a skeptic, tending toward isolationism and a Fortress America stance, and his perch is safe as one of the company's most visible and popular hosts.
The problem was that Candace's advocacy veered perilously close to antisemitism. I can't see into her heart, so I won't comment on that, but her hatred for Israel is manifest. Her position seems closer to Israel Last than America First, and that was incompatible with the editorial stance of the Daily Wire, as was her increasing hostility to Ben Shapiro, not just his opinions.
Kooky Tucker
Good. There is a big difference between running a talk show, as Carlson, Candace Owens and others do, and being responsible for the safety of hundreds of millions of Americans. As a talk show host, you can say whatever you want, or whatever might pump up your audience. As a president, you have to deal with reality and you are accountable for your actions (at least, if you are a Republican).
So, kudos to President Trump for siding with reality over fantasy.
Expensive, Low-Intensity, and Intermittent - What a Great Deal!
The New York Times is working hard to convince us that Trump's attempt--and that is all that is happening now, because a lot of Republicans are pitching to keep much of Biden's "Inflation Reduction Act" spending, and we will have to see whether they manage to do so when all is said and done--will increase energy prices.
It's all based on the myth that renewable energy is practically free--and it is, if you exclude all the costs associated with it.
Some renewable energy really IS inexpensive--Canada has low energy prices because it relies heavily on hydroelectric power to the tune of 60% of its power generation, but good luck building big dams in the United States. But if you look at wind and solar, they are "cheap" only because all the expenses necessary to actually use them are excluded from the calculations.
Also, from John Hinderaker:
One of the worst things about wind and solar energy is that they are terrible for the environment. The principal reason for this is that, apart from being intermittent, they are low-intensity. This means that even when they do produce electricity, it is in ridiculously small amounts. As a result, it takes an enormous number of wind turbines and solar panels to generate a perceptible amount of electricity, and that, in turn, requires vast quantities of natural resources and a great deal of land. And more here:
Green energy is a disaster in several ways: it is inherently unreliable and ridiculously expensive. Some people naively assume, however, that wind and solar energy make up for these liabilities by being good for the environment. They couldn’t be more wrong.
The basic problem with wind turbines and solar panels (plus hypothetical batteries) is that they are extremely low-intensity. Do they work? Intermittently, yes. But compared with conventional energy sources, they produce a very small amount of energy on a per-unit of input basis. Thus, they require both enormous amounts of land and vast quantities of raw materials.
Thus, to supply America’s electricity with wind turbines would require a land area twice the size of California. But that isn’t all. Because they are so low-intensity, wind, solar and batteries require enormous amounts of raw materials. To actually transition to a “green” economy (which will never happen) would require the greatest mining, manufacturing, transportation and construction effort since the Industrial Revolution. And mining, manufacturing, transportation and construction all have significant environmental impacts.
Hold Leftists Accountable For Their Idiot Ideas? Never!
What is so infuriating about all this, aside from the obvious fact that generations of kids have been unnecessarily hampered in their education and hence their lifetime achievements, is that liberals are always given a pass for ruining things, and when they shift to proven methods, they somehow get credit for doing the obvious.
We see this in how the COVID response is evaluated. The liberal approach was going to be an obvious disaster, and now that everybody agrees that closing schools, mandating vaccines, and so many of the authoritarian methods failed, there is no accountability. We are still supposed to "trust the experts" who ruined everything.
Hell, we are supposed to increase their resources--they need it, right?!
The Left's Favorite Savages
Gaza is one of the most benighted places on Earth, likely the most benighted. It has no real educational system; its schools are devoted to propagating bigotry. It has virtually no economy; it is a society that lives on international welfare. It is primitive in all the ways liberals say they hate—viciously misogynistic, murderous toward homosexuals, prone to torture political opponents to death. It is the most backward theocracy on Earth. And on October 7, 2023, it launched the most horrific military/terrorist attack since World War II.And:
Yet, for some reason, Gaza has become the Left’s favorite cause. To be a liberal these days is to be an enthusiastic supporter of murdering political opponents, throwing gays off buildings, oppressing women, mass-murdering babies and defenseless civilians, and shooting in cold blood those who show up for free food provided by Americans. It is very weird that liberals tell us the Trump administration somehow represents the dark night of totalitarianism, while Hamas and the Gazans who elected Hamas to lead them are not just A-OK but tres chic.
Leftism is stupid, and leftists, generally speaking, are stupid. Still, we are confronted with a puzzle: why in the world are liberals lining up to support the most evil regime on Earth? How and when did liberalism become pro-terrorism, pro-mass murder, anti-women and anti-homosexual? Yes, the liberal’s moral compass has been awry for some time. But here we have an exact negation of reality: the liberals’ moral compass is pointing due South, toward the ultimate evil of Gaza.More from Mr. Hinderaker here.
The Beta Foreigner Wants to Play Tyrant
New York Democrats have chosen the far-left Zohran Mamdani as their candidate for Mayor. His extremist views are coming out, one after another. What I want to reflect on here is his lawlessness. Mamdani says that if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits New York, he will have him arrested.
The obvious question is, arrested for what? The NYPD has the power to arrest those who violate New York State law. What New York law has Netanyahu violated? Has he mugged someone, like so many who face no consequences in New York City? Has he jumped a turnstile? What New York law has he violated?
Obviously, none. Zohran Mamdani says that he will arrest those, like Netanyahu, who don’t align with his “values.” This is sheer lawlessness, the perspective of a tyrant. That man disagrees with me? Arrest him!
No Visas For Pro-Savage Trash
Now, consider this in light of current British policies on free speech and religious expression. Simply tweeting anything critical about Islam or transgenders can get one prosecuted in the UK. Praying outside of an abortion clinic, even while not on the property, gets people arrested too -- even if the prayers are silent. And yet, chanting pro-Hamas slogans and publicly demanding death to Israel's armed forces gets no reaction at all.
Well, not in Britain, anyway, even though the state-owned BBC broadcast it live. Here in the US, it gets plenty of attention, especially at the State Department. They have spent the last few months trying to cancel visas issued to pro-Hamas propagandists already in the US and to expel them. Rubio's in no mood to let more of them in, even those who have 20-city tours already set up across the country.
