John Hinderaker:
Why in the world would we rely on an energy source to power our grid that may work only six percent of the time? The answer, of course, is that we don’t. The same utilities that charge ratepayers billions to construct solar and wind facilities also charge them billions to build natural gas power plants–plants that actually work. And the overwhelming majority of the time, it is natural gas, not solar or wind, that is providing electricity. The unreliable (i.e., usually useless) “green” sources are just for show, and for fleecing ratepayers.
So far, most voters have been snowed by “green” energy propaganda. Or that is what they tell pollsters, anyway. But the day is coming when voters understand that they have been had by one of the biggest cons in world history.
John Hinderaker:
Instead of petroleum, the Biden administration wants our economy to run on solar panels, wind turbines and mythical batteries–a pipe dream that will never come true, as the laws of physics don’t permit it. But in the meantime, the Biden administration means to turn over energy production, and thus our economy, to the Chinese Communist Party, which dominates production and processing of the products and materials needed for the electrified economy that liberals say is the future.
So don’t scorn the Europeans for turning their economies over to Vladimir Putin. What we are doing with the Chinese Communist Party is worse. I don’t think that Joe Biden is a Communist Chinese agent, if only because he is not smart enough for that, and I think it is unlikely that he is being blackmailed by Chairman Xi, although that is possible. I think it is more likely that Biden is so clueless, and the Democratic Party’s funders are so concentrated in the “green energy”–i.e., Communist Chinese Party–sector, that they simply don’t know or care about our country’s future.
John Hinderaker:
The broader point is that, according to the Democrats, we have suddenly been beset by a plethora of capitalist conspiracies, worthy of Chavez/Maduro Venezuela: Big Oil is responsible for exploding gasoline prices, auto companies–according to Warren–are to blame for rapidly rising vehicle prices, semiconductor companies (again, per the eternally clueless Ms. Warren) are behind the chip shortage, and so on.
It is hard to understand why all of these industries would conspire to raise prices at the same time, coinciding–by coincidence, apparently–with the Biden administration’s wild money-printing and spending spree. Hard to explain, that is, if, like Elizabeth Warren, you don’t know a damn thing about economics.
Scott Johnson:
What is the deep meaning of “expodentially”? As a general proposition, President Biden doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He thinks it sounds smart and makes him sound smarter. He doesn’t know what “exponential” means, let alone “expodential.” He has no friend or colleague who can gently correct him. He is a stubborn faker.
Did Biden say “expodentially” in his prime, or is it another sign that his age-related decline is increasing “expodentially”?
John Hinderaker:
“…will need to pursue their education elsewhere.” If every college and university president backed free speech so forthrightly, our world–our academic world, anyway–would be a very different place.
Steven Hayward:
I’ve thought for a long time that if women athletes don’t want to—or can’t—speak out publicly, they ought to try this: at the next race with Lia Thomas, every other woman in the field should simply stand on the blocks after the gun fires and let Lia Thomas swim alone. (Ditto for women track athletes facing similar unfair competition.) Refuse to take the seat at the back of the bus. And the university can’t complain that they spoke to the media!
John Hinderaker:
I don’t think Jen Psaki is too stupid to understand this, although, to be fair, she might be. More likely, though, she realizes the political implications of the President’s seeking millions of dollars from China’s energy conglomerate in exchange for his political influence, especially when President Biden and his party are pursuing “green” initiatives that would turn control of our economy over to the Chinese Communist Party. No wonder “we have to move on”! Whether voters see it that way remains to be seen.
Jazz Shaw:
This is yet another subject that doesn’t poll well with the voters but progressives still cling to it as if it does. There are plenty of people out there who took on large student loans and went on to work and pay them off. They generally don’t feel like seeing the people coming after them getting a free ride. There are also a huge number of people who never even got the chance to go to college. I’d be willing to bet that most of them aren’t shedding any tears over Tlaib’s plight.
As a final note, I would also point out that nobody forced Rashida Tlaib to take all of those loans. If she couldn’t come up with the money to pay for the schools she applied to, she could have attended a community college for two years and then went on to a state college where far more financial aid is available and tuitions are drastically lower. That’s a course that many people choose and they still wind up with one or more degrees and the chance to land a sweet job after graduation. Everyone has to make a lot of tough decisions when it comes to their education and their career. And adults are supposed to be held accountable for the results of those choices.
Of course the narcissist uses herself as an example.
