When High Turnout is a Bad Thing

The various get out the vote groups always overlook a key point in their effort to get everyone to the polls on Election Day. The American voter should be an informed voter, not someone who doesn't have a clue about the issues and simply votes because he or she can. As voters, we have a responsibility to learn about the candidates, political parties, and issues before we cast a ballot. Failing to do so essentially harms the democratic process. Abigail discusses the editorial "The Other Campaign: Why should we want lazy idiots to vote?" from OpinionJournal here (the link to the actual editorial can be found in Abigail's post) . Clearly, the piece is meant to be humorous, and it is, but it also addresses the importance of being an informed participant in our republic.
